There is something incredibly beautiful about a wedding that doesn't demand attention but instead draws you in slowly, inviting you to notice the details, the emotion, and the intention behind every choice. Emily and Matthew's wedding at Barns at Cooper Molera in Monterey, California was exactly that—a celebration rooted in connection, thoughtful design, and a love that feels both effortless and enduring.

From the beginning, Emily envisioned a palette that felt rich and grounded. She was drawn to warm burgundies, mauves, and earthy browns, while also wanting an unexpected pop of color to bring vibrancy to the day. Together, we introduced bold shades of blue throughout the design, creating a palette that felt sophisticated yet approachable. The contrast between the deep, romantic tones and vibrant blue accents brought movement and personality while remaining harmonious within the natural setting of the historic barn venue.

As a designer, my goal was to create a space that felt calm and welcoming—one that was easy on the eye yet layered with depth and meaning. Rather than relying on excessive décor, we focused on texture, allowing the materials and floral elements to tell the story. Inspired by the beauty of natural and organic forms, the design incorporated rich linens, layered textiles, sculptural florals, and thoughtfully curated details that created visual interest without overwhelming the space.

The result was a modern interpretation of a barn wedding that felt elevated, intentional, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Florals by Linzy Griswold played an essential role in bringing the vision to life. Organic arrangements filled with movement and texture softened the architecture of the venue while enhancing the richness of the color palette. Deep burgundies mingled with softer mauve tones and warm neutrals, while touches of blue created moments of surprise throughout the design. The florals felt as though they naturally belonged within the space, complementing rather than competing with the beauty of the day.

One of the most memorable aspects of Emily and Matthew's wedding was the atmosphere created by the people surrounding them. Their celebration was filled with family and friends who genuinely wanted to be there, eager to support and celebrate the beginning of their next chapter together.
